Perlite & Vermiculite Combo

Perlite and vermiculite are both great growing media for hydroponic growing of many plants and flowers. What is vermiculite and why would you use it in a combination with perlite? First vermiculite is a natural and non toxic mineral that is created from other minerals being left behind. This particular mineral coarse vermiculite or vermiculite insulation is an expansive material that grows and expands once it is heated to a certain temperature.
