Nutrient film techniques in hydroponics has been around for many, many years. An nft hydroponic system was one of the first hydroponic systems otherwise known as nft systems. Nft is a system in hydroponics that is relatively inexpensive and generally easy to understand; it is the growth of plants in a constant flow of nutrient enriched water.
The water in an nft system is spread across a flat surface and very shallow, usually only one to three millimeters deep. The water that is spread over the flat surface where your plants roots reside is in constant slow flowing motion and is done so with a underwater pump. Once the water has gone from one end of the grow table or tray it is then deposited back into a reservoir where it waits to be slowly and continuously pumped back into the growing tray or root area. The idea is to keep the water slowly moving so there is a constant flow of nutrient rich water moving throughout the root system of your plants this is a very healthy and successful way to grow many different types of vegetation.
Nutrient film technique can be used with a variety of plants such as growing nft strawberries and other types of berries and vegetables, nft greenhouses have a great amount of success with all types of plants from fruits and vegetables to flowering and non-flowering plants as well. It is always a good idea to do a good amount of research before purchasing or building any hydroponics system to ensure that you have the time and money to get started as the plants can fade quickly if you are not prepared to tend to them as needed.
