There are many ways to improve upon your outdoor living space today. Many home and business owners find themselves wondering what they can do to make a statement or cozy up their outdoor living areas. Some of the best options that provide you with great design and uniqueness include cupolas, pergolas, screened porches and playhouses. All of these options can be decorative and stylish adding value and unique design to your home and yard.

Cupolas and pergolas are great original features that can be added to your outdoor living space, provided you have the room and design to suit them. A cupola is a dome shaped and rounded building or top of a building. Cupolas are often a great addition to the top of a sturdy gazebo or standing alone with free space beneath. It will provide you with adequate amounts of shade to relax in and some protection from the moister weather, depending on your location. A pergola can be a fantastic addition to any walk way or trail in your yard. A pergola is a type of structure that runs along walkways and paths, they generally provide partial shade and slight protection from snow and rain however many are not solid roofing so some moisture will get through. Both of these decorative structures are great for adding an original and romantic flair to your existing structures or pathways. They can be great for entertainment purposes and will accommodate most functions as both decorative and stylish.

Two other popular out door structures that can easily be added to your back yard or out door space are playhouses and screened porches. Playhouses do not have to be a plastic house bought at the local kiddie shop; they can be very ornamental and beautiful while still providing your children a safe place to play outside. Most playhouses are roofed and will provide adequate protection from the sun, rain and wind however they are not meant to be refuge from strong storms. Screened porches will provide you with an outdoor area for relaxing and entertaining. The best thing about a screened porch is the protection you receive from pesky insects and shade from the sun. Most screened porches have a solid roof that also will provide cover from rain and snow, however wind will still slip in and can cause you to take cover inside.

No matter what type of improvement you are looking to make to your out door area, any of these are great choices. It is simply finding the structure or structures that will best suit your needs and accommodate your lifestyle. Those without children or whose children are grown will probably have no use for a playhouse but anyone can enjoy a nice screened porch even if it is to enjoy a book alone or host a variety of celebrations.
